Hotel Saturnia

The Hotel Saturnia & International originates in 1908 when the Serandrei hotelier family purchased a small 8-room guest-house in an original 14th-century palazzo.
Thanks to their experience the business soon expanded.
Shortly after World War Two, following the increase in the number of rooms, the Hotel Saturnia became a 4-star hotel.

During the early sixties, thanks to the huge international success of Ciro’s, the piano bar, it was decided to carry out a major refurbishment and transform the bar into a restaurant, because a prestigious 4-star hotel must offer its guests a fine restaurant.
The outcome was the famed La Caravella restaurant.

A hundred years after its establishment the Hotel Saturnia is now one of the few family-run 4-star hotels in Venice and certainly the only one with such a long-standing family tradition.
Guests staying at the Hotel Saturnia are aware that they are experiencing the true Venetian hotelier tradition that only such a long history can guarantee.

The Hotel Saturnia overlooks one of the city's most famous streets, the Calle larga XXII Marzo, in a fashionable shopping district behind the celebrated La Fenice theatre and just a stone's throw away from St Mark's Square.
The hotel is easy to reach by both public transport (vaporetto), or private transport thanks to its private water-gate where both water taxis and gondolas can moor.

Although each room has its own personality, all rooms fall into 3 categories: Junior Suite, Superior and Standard, all offering the modern comforts and amenities typical of Venice’s top 4-star hotels, including HD-Ready televisions with 24” screens and air-conditioning, to mention just two.

As well as La Caravella the Hotel Saturnia also boasts a large roof-top solarium with a spectacular view of Venice’s roofs and an inner courtyard where you can eat breakfast during the summer months, surrounded by Venetian well-heads, the historic symbols of the city.

The hotel also offers a Wi-Fi Internet connection: the network is due to be extended to the entire hotel by 2008.

La Caravella is one of Venice’s historic restaurants.
Established in the early Sixties, it boasted a Michelin star for an entire decade during the Eighties.

Today La Caravella also offers its guests a typical Venetian courtyard where you can dine al fresco from April to September.

Traditional cuisine has always been La Caravella's culinary cornerstone: you'll find the favourite local dishes with fish and meat playing starring roles, as well as a good selection of local vegetables.

It is one of only a handful of restaurants in Venice to propose flambé dishes (during the winter period only).

The sommeliers guarantee an outstanding wine list featuring some of the top Italian and foreign labels.
